La vie est belle (Life is beautiful) is a quintessential perfume that presents one of the most interesting perfume ingredients, iris, in an unexpected role as the basis of the fragrance, sounding from the first to the last note. Powdery, green-woody iris is obtained from the root of the plant, aged for nine months in a special incubator. It is one of the most expensive components in a modern perfume palette, so it is used only in the most prestigious fragrances. In La vie est belle, a slight iris aldehyde is set off by notes of Indonesian patchouli; completes the composition of the sweet "smile" of notes of vanilla, tonka bean, praline, currant and pear.
